Can automotive AC recharge kits be used to recharge home air conditioners?
Question:
Hi! I am trying to top off my home air conditioner that uses Freon. Can I use AC recharge kits that I can purchase from automotive store? If so, which refrigerant should I look for? My home air conditioner is atleast 20 years old.

Skoda Fabia - the premium Indian hatch
Skoda Fabia is a 5-door premium hatchback with over 15 lakh units sold in Europe and other countries. Skoda Fabia comes in both diesel and petrol engine options. The petrol engine is a three-cylinder 1.2 HTP engine with a power output of 51 kW. The relaxed engine performance makes city and highway travel effortless and gives better fuel economy. The 1.2 12V HTP/51 kW petrol engine with a Max. engine performance/rev [kW (bhp) at rpm] of 51(70)/5400, Max torque/revs of 108/3000 comes with a electronic multipoint fuel injection MPI and control unit controlled electronic ignition system.
The diesel engine has a three-cylinder 1.4 turbo diesel with power output of 51 kWwith high-pressure direct injection system, OHC and transverse in front. It has a Max. torque/revs of 155/1600–2800 and has a electronically controlled high-pressure direct injection system. The 1.2 12V HTP/51 kW petrol engine with a Max. engine performance/rev [kW (bhp) at rpm] of 51(70)/5400, Max torque/revs of 108/3000 delivers approximately 14.7 km/litre on the highway and 11.6 kmpl in the city. While the1.4 turbo diesel engine with power output of 51 kW and Max torque/revs of 155/1600–2800 gives amazing fuel efficiency, which is close to 14.1 km/litre in the city and 18.5 km/litre on the highway. The interiors have an impressive dual tone design with multi-textured seat fabrics. The instrument panel displays current time, outdoor temperature, instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, distance traveled, time driven and average speed range. Some other key features include a remote keyless entry for one-touch lock and unlock, electronically adjustable and heated outside rear view mirrors and front and rear power windows. Skoda Fabia has a chassis that has a sophisticated front MacPherson strut suspension along with a strong lower A-arm and non-independent rear suspension. Skoda has kept the condition of Indian roads in the forefront while designing Fabia for the Indian market.
Apart from this Skoda also offers Skoda Superb, Laura RS, Laura, Fabia Sportline, Fabia Greenline and Superb Combi. The Skoda Laura is available in three trims: Škoda Laura Laurin and Klement, Škoda Laura Elegance and Škoda Laura Ambiente and has three engine types 1.8 TSI/118 kW petrol engine, 2.0 TDI CR/81 kW and 2.0 TDI CR/103 kW (A) diesel engines. And the TSI petrol and TDI PD diesel engine variants of Skoda Superb have a lot to offer in terms of performance.
Skoda is all set to launch its compact SUV Skoda Yeti, which would be available in both petrol and diesel option.
