What should I know about compressors and air tools for auto body painting?
Question:
I want to do work in my driveway. Is there any special hookup I'll need for the compressor like a 220 line? or can I go with less HP and just plug it into a regular socket? What air tools do I need? A buffer and sander are different tools right?
Answer: Most compressors are 115 V, so you can use a regular wall socket. You can get various air tools such as a buffer and sander to do body work on automobiles. You will probably need to check your zoning laws to see if this is allowable on your driveway. Your neighbors might complain about the dust and noise.

Where can I find dimensions of metric sockets (hand tools)? Like height, outside diameter, etc.?
Would be nice to have both standard and impact, standard and deep well...
Try measuring some with calipers to use as an example. Greg has a nice digital pair in his desk, and you can get sockets from the tool crib. Maybe that would give you a good idear.
